MetaMask is a popular and reliable cryptocurrency wallet used to interact with ERC20-compatible blockchains such as Avalanche.
Follow this simple guide to setup your Metamask Wallet for Trader Joe and Joepegs
1. Installing Metamask
Go to MetaMask.io and click the “Download” button, which will take you to the relevant store to download the extension or app based on the device and browser you’re using.
Remember to save your passkey and seed phrase in a secure location.
Never share this information with anyone
2. Connect Metamask to Avalanche
Your wallet should automatically connect to the correct network (Avalanche) however if you find that logging in does not correctly adjust your network to Avalanche, you may need to setup Avalanche by following the below guide:
Login to Metamask
In the top right corner of the page, select the Network dropdown menu.
Select Add Network.
Continue to fill in the Avalanche Network information:
Network Name: Avalanche Network
New RPC URL: https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc
Chain ID: 43114
Symbol: AVAX
Explorer: https://snowtrace.io/
Select Save.
Finished!
You should now have installed Metamask and be able to connect to Trader Joe and Joepegs on the Avalanche blockchain.
Adding a Custom Token to your Metamask Wallet
All your Avalanche compatible tokens will be viewable in this network once you have imported the token information.
Navigate to the bottom of the Avalanche Network page in MM and select Import Token.
Enter the information for the token you wish to import (you can find this on blockchain explorers such as SnowTrace).
The token information will usually auto-fill. Always double-check the token contract address to make sure it is not a fake version.
Select Add Custom Token to save.
